The King's Footprint, Dunadd

Kilmartin Day Tour

PLEASE NOTE: WE HAVE NO DAY TOURS FOR 2021.  NOW TAKING BOOKINGS FOR 2022!
This journey down the coast through the Heart of Argyll gets more beautiful around every corner, steeped in ancient history, charming villages, seafood, Arthurian legends and mysterious signs of our prehistoric ancestors.

.

From giant burial cairns to stone circles to the fort where the ancient kings of Scotland were crowned, Kilmartin is perhaps Britain's most important archaeological landscape, plus sites that some say are the actual locations related to the Stone of Destiny and the historic King Arthur. Enjoy breath-taking sea views as you get up close and personal with hairy Highland cows and stroll through National Trust for Scotland’s Arduaine Gardens. A short walk at Achnabreck takes you through a fantastic landscape of mysterious ancient symbols carved into the very rock 5,000 years ago. Renaissance era Carnasserie castle commands a spectacular view over Kilmartin Glen, and even though it’s a ruin, it’s remarkably well preserved and great fun to explore.

This private tour is available for up to five people, and lasts approximately 7-8 hours. We can adapt the tour to most fitness levels, but to fully enjoy all the sites and the castle, some moderate walking (and scrambling for Dunadd Fort) is required.
