Celebrate Christmas in style at Stirling Castle

Stirling Castle is offering a feast of festive fare this December with a host of seasonal events and activities sure to get visitors in to the Christmas spirit.

From seasonal shopping to festive family days out, the castle – which is operated by Historic Environment Scotland (HES) – will provide the perfect setting to celebrate Christmas in style.

Liz Grant, Executive Manager at Stirling Castle, said: “We’ll be offering a warm welcome at Stirling Castle this Christmas season, with our festive programme promising something for everyone.

Whether it’s Christmas lunch, a carol concert or Christmas shopping, enjoy a unique festive day out in the stunning surrounds of one of the grandest castles in the country.”

The festive programme kicks off with A Very Victorian Christmas on Sunday 3 December. From crackers to panto, discover the tales behind the Christmas traditions we know and love today.

The ever-popular Christmas Shopping Fayre returns on Tuesday 5 December. Stock up for the festive season in the splendour of the Great Hall, with stalls of local crafts, fine foods and drink. Visitors can also find Christmas gift inspiration in the dedicated Clan and Craft Christmas shop, with its huge range of decorations and unique stocking-fillers. The shop is located on Stirling Castle esplanade and is free to visit.

On Sunday 10 December, get into the festive spirit as the National Youth Choir of Scotland perform Carols at the Castle– and enjoy a glass of mulled wine (or two!)

Celebrate Christmas Lunch with some festive sparkle in the castle’s Green Room, served everyday between Saturday 16 and Saturday 23 December.

The castle’s Christmas celebrations culminate with a special adaptation of Charles Dicken’s festive favourite, A Christmas Carol on Friday 22 and Saturday 23 December. Doors open at 6:15pm for a 7pm start. During the performance on Saturday 23rd December performance, British Sign Language interpreters will form an integral part of the on-stage action.
